Gorgeous crystal clear blue water, breathtaking views, relaxing ambience. Isn’t this what you had in mind when you booked your trip to Italy? While the beaches near Rome are nothing to get excited about – Ponza Island, a tiny, hidden mediterranean island paradise just a few hours from Rome is everything you imagined and more.
Your day starts early, but you'll soon be rewarded for the effort. After checking in at our central office near the Colosseum, we'll board our comfortable air conditioned bus for a quick and easy transfer to our departure port where we'll catch the fast boat directly to Ponza Island.
After some free time on the island to explore and have breakfast, we'll board the boat we'll be calling home for the day. You'll be greeted warmly by the captain and crew who will be leading our exploration of the Pontine Islands of Ponza and, weather permitting - Palmarola. Depending on the wind and the sea, stops will differ from day to day but your boat tour is sure to include breathtakingly beautiful stops at the islands most important grottoes and swimming areas. Ponza Island is famous for its sparkling, chrystalline blue waters and stunning terrain of cliffsides and unique geological formations. Your captain will regale you with tales of the numerous legends the island has inspired. We'll visit the grotto of Circe, the seducing sorceress of Homer's The Odyssey who turned Odysseus' men into animals and learn the heartbreaking true story of Lucia Rosa, whose name now lives on in one of Ponza's most beautiful swimming areas.
When it's time for lunch, our crew will prepare a simple pasta lunch directly on board in the boat's kitchen. Lunch is served on deck with wine and beverages. There are plenty of nice, shady spots on board where you can escape from the sun.
Love the sun? Grab your beach towel and laze about on the boats deck as you enjoy the sea breeze. There is plenty to do on board and in the water, and our Tour Assistant will be there to accomodate all of your needs.
At the end of the day we'll trade in our sea legs at Ponza Island's port where you'll have some free time to shop, explore the typical alleyways or grab a glass of wine before our 5:00PM ferry departure to the mainland where we'll meet our transfer back to Rome.
Our tour ends at our office just 400 meters from the Colosseum where you can catch the metro, bus or a taxi back home.

Marco B“Incredible day in Ponza”
Took this tour last summer. Ponza is an incredible place, doubt there are many like it in the world: isolated, beautiful - definitely off the beaten track. This was our third trip to Rome and we had (thought) we'd seen it all but when we found this day tip we realized we were in for something special. One of the most amazing days I have ever spent in Italy. I'd go back and do the tour again.
Mike L“Beautiful Island, Tour, and Experience!”
After traveling Europe for close to 3 weeks, I decided it was time to get away from the crowds and tourist attractions and try something a bit more relaxing. Ponza was the perfect choice to end the trip on a good note! The island is beautiful with extremely clean and blue water, amazing landscapes of cliffs, and some of the most spectacular views I've seen. Booking this tour with Kimberly really saved me a lot of time and hassle. She was very informative about the island and provided great customer service. You could tell she truly cared about my experience there and went above and beyond to make sure the experience was a good one. I would recommend this to anyone!
Jessyca N“Fun in the Sun”
I had a great time snorkeling and laying out in the sun!! : ) Kimberly was a wonderful guide and she made sure I didn't drown by providing me some floaties. She also offered to take pictures of my super-handsome boyfriend and me. The view was AMAZING, I've never seen an island so beautiful before. I'm glad we chose this tour to Ponza because we don't speak italian and it was nice to just sit back and relax and not worry about planning and catching trains or boats. I can't wait to get back to Ponza!!!
When I found ecoart's day trip to Ponza I was actually really looking for a trip to Capri as I had never heard of Ponza Island before. I did a little research and realized Ponza was a lot closer than Capri and that we'd have more time to relax on the island while with the capri trip we would have spent almost all of the time on a bus. Plus I really wanted to tan/go swimming and maybe snorkeling and Ponza was the only day trip that offered this opportunity. Kimberly took us around as was the perfect guide, gave just enough info without overwhelming us and took care of all of the logistics throughout the day so all we had to do was relax. Ponza is incredibly beautiful and while before I was upset about missing out on the blue grotto in capri Kimberly had promised that we'd get to actually swim in a similar blue grotto in Ponza. She delivered on that promise! The last swim stop on the boat tour was at an incredible grotto and we were able to swim inside - the water was glowing from undern
DAustin2014“Amazing Trip to Ponza - Highly Recommended”
I knew this trip was going to be great before we even left the states. Before booking I reached out to EcoArt and was put in touch with Kimberly. She answered all of my questions, helped me with booking, answered more questions after booking and was always professional, kind and excited to share this adventure with my family. Upon arrival Kim and Eric were very upbeat, even though it was very early in the morning. BTW there is a cafe a couple of doors down in case you are exhausted like I was. The day was planned perfectly. Transport arrive on time, we had time for breakfast prior to taking the boat to the island where we then boarded our smaller boat that took us for a beautifully relaxing day of sunning and swimming. Everything was truly amazing and I highly recommend this tour. Kim and Eric thanks again for your charisma, you made our day!
Allison C“Perfect Getaway”
My husband and I decided to take a last minute trip to Europe but trying to decide where to go was a challenge. I wanted to go to the beach but my husband wanted to see ruins. After a quick internet search we found the Ponza day trip and decided we could do both! On our first day in Rome we went to find the EcoArt office to book our trip. Locating the office was a bit tricky because the office doesn't actually say EcoArt outside. It's a segway touring company but they're super friendly. We scheduled our trip for our 2nd to last day in Rome. Before our trip we got an email from Kim detailing everything we needed to bring with us - towels, sunscreen, etc. She also offered us the option of purchasing snorkel masks for a small fee. I highly recommend them. The sets we got from Kim where really nice and we ended up bringing them back to the US. On the day of our trip we got to the EcoArt office bright and early. We're not much of morning people so the early arrival was a bit roug
Ben & Ashleigh“Must-do day trip from Rome”
What an amazing experience. After days of walking in the hot and humid city, this was the perfect escape to a day of relaxation, beauty, and a different vacation experience. A friendly staff instantly had us feeling excited, informed on Italian culture and city sites for after our tour, and had everything taken care of for a great day. The bus ride, followed by a ferry to ponza, was quite long... But it was 100 percent worth it. As we stepped off the ferry we were instantly surrounded by the beautiful city, and the gorgeous water of ponza. Our local guide at ponza took us on an unforgettable cruise with some of the best swimming spots we've experience in our travel, and gave us the island history to go along with it. Lunch was great, the sites were mesmerizing, and the swimming was amazing. Make sure to ask to go to the grotto you can swim through. Kimberly requested this stop for us..... Great call. Overall this trip is 100% worth booking... We're so glad we did!!
Isabel & Aaron“A day in paradise! (Ponza Boat Tour)”
This trip was the perfect way to end our visit to Rome! We found this tour on Trip Advisor and after seeing some of the reviews and photos, we felt compelled to do it. Best decision we'd ever made. The whole tour was just perfect! It was well organised, by Kimberly, a very friendly and helpful member of the EcoArt team - who took care of everything! Breakfast was a bit small, so we would recommend taking some snacks and plenty of water. However, lunch on board is provided and is a delicious homemade Italian pasta. Ponza Island is beautiful! The boat stops off in three locations and the sea literally invites you to jump in! You are in the sun all day, so remember lots of suncream! Also, a selfiestick really does come in handy for all you selfie takers! The early morning and lengthy travelling is definitely worth it. We wish we could go back to this paradise! Thank you EcoArt and Kimberly for this amazing trip! Isabel and Aaron! :)
Mary H“A delightful and relaxing excursion.”
We have just returned from a delightful day with Kimberly at Ponza Island. What a charming and knowledgeable guide is Kimberly. From the moment we met, Kimberly made us comfortable and kept things running like clockwork. Ponza Island is stunningly beautiful and surprisingly unspoiled - towering cliffs, warm blue water, and accessible Roman history. Captain Lucca brought us within arms reach of grotto walls and deposited us in calm swimming areas along the coast.
Jenny C“Best day trip out of Rome”
Kimberly was amazing. Knew when to inform us and when to give us time to relax. She was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, giving us historical information, architectural tips, geological info and general knowledge of the ecosystems. The island itself is picturesque. Cerulean blue waters with incredible clarity. Snorkeling is a must. Definitely would do again, best day trip out of Rome. Thanks to the eco travel team.
Lisa R“Ponza Day Trip - Incredible!”
I cannot convey how amazing EcoArt's day trip to Ponza is. We just took this trip halfway through a weeklong trip to Rome with our two kids, ages 9 and 11. And while Rome is spectacular, Ponza felt like paradise on earth. It's a craggy yet beautiful island on the Tyrrhenian Sea, surrounded by the clearest, bluest water I've ever seen. With EcoArt, we explored the entire island by fishing boat: Kimberly, our guide, worked with the captain to pick choice swimming and snorkeling spots, shared geologic and historical info along the way, and even made sure our youngest had a floater in the water. We all had a blast; my kids both claimed it was "the best family outing we've ever had." Finally, I should also add that Kimberly--in addition to being super friendly and knowledgable about Ponza and Lazio--made all the logistics work. The bus and ferry and boat rides were all coordinated perfectly--not an easy feat in Italy. So go to Ponza!! You'll love it and the tour EcoArt has put tog
I wanted to explore the local side of the country and do some snorkeling, so I booked this tour through. This tour is a must for anyone who likes to swim and snorkel! It was well organized, my tour guide was accommodating and very knowledgeable about the area and its history, and they serve you lunch on the boat!...
